Way to go, Bill Clinton.
The TV network and social news web site that counts Al Gore as its Chairman, has reason to celebrate this afternoon. The two journalists working for the company that were detained in North Korea back in March have been freed following a visit to the country by former President Bill Clinton.
Lisa Ling's sister, Laura Ling, and her friend Euna Lee were convicted for "hostile acts" in June, and sentenced to 12 years hard labor for "committing hostilities against the Korean nation and illegal entry."
According to CNN, the release of Current’s Laura Ling and Euna Lee “came after former U.S. President Clinton met with top North Korean officials in Pyongyang.” Those officials included North Korean President Kim Jong Il, who was pictured with Clinton earlier today.
Ling and Lee were arrested while working on a story near the border between China and North Korea, and were swiftly sentenced to 12 years in labor camp.
Wooohooooo! What a huge relief!
