Slash on American Idol Rock Week

American Idol viewers have just suffered through the universally loathed Disco Week, so what’s their reward? Rock Week, apparently. We’re cautiously optimistic about this one, since the air-date hasn’t actually been confirmed. Maybe they’re saving it for the top 3?

There have been some awfully ineffective and inarticulate mentors on "American Idol" this year, from Quentin Tarantino to Jamie Foxx.

While it’s hard to imagine him rockin’ a keypad instead of a Les Paul, iconic ex-Guns’n'Roses/Velvet Revolver/Slash’s Snakepit (remember them?) guitarist Slash has announced, via Twitter, that he’s been asked to mentor the Idol contestants during Rock Week.

Not sure how a guitarist, also of Slash's Snakepit, will advise singers of largely pop pedigree, but he will try during next week's "Idol" theme: rock 'n' roll.

The theme comes just in time for Adam Lambert, the rocker with a theatrical streak, who surprisingly found himself in the bottom two Wednesday. Also to benefit: Allison Iraheta, who just turned 17 and has proven herself most durable on rock numbers.
Kris Allen and Danny Gokey may have a tougher time handling Slash's brand of rock, and Slash itself. But with only four singing, it's pretty certain the one hour performance show next week will at least come in on time.

Tune in to find out what horrors Rock Week has in store. Chris Daughtry will reportedly be debuting a new Daughtry song during the show, too.

david poole dies at 50

David Poole, an Observer reporter who became one of country’s leading authorities on NASCAR, died of a heart attack this afternoon. He was 50.

Poole had just returned from last week’s race at Talledega, Ala. He was at his Stanfield home when the heart attack occurred. His daughter called 911. Emergency crews rushed him to the hospital in Stanly County, where he was pronounced dead.

The reality really set in when "David-Poole-Charlotte-Observer" -- as he identified himself in rapid Southern cadence -- wasn't called on to ask a question of Earnhardt. David was always part of this weekly forum, usually first in line.

He was THE beat writer. The drivers and race teams live in or near Charlotte and his race recounts and opinion pieces were what they had delivered to their doorsteps on Monday mornings.

And David was always up to it. He wasn't afraid to ask the tough question. He wasn't afraid to question the tough.

Those that have worked with David will remember him for many reasons. He was our voice when it came to getting the speakers louder, the replays re-played. ... or the press rooms quiet on deadline. Television cameramen and still photographers didn't dare box him out of an interview.

FanHouse blogger Geoffrey Miller said today he considered Poole one of his greatest influences, something which David would undoubtedly try to make light of, even as he so graciously appreciated the praise.

He'd motion the car to move forward then stick his palm up to signal for Earnhardt to stop. He never sat down and raised his fist in encouragement every time Earnhardt's No. 88 drove by - even though he would have been nothing more than a red blur to his favorite driver.

David got such a kick out of it. He laughed all afternoon. Until the last lap.

As we heard the impact just below us and watched Carl Edwards' car fly into the air and into the fence, we gasped, and immediately went into hard-news mode. We needed medical details, crash details and David was already holding officials accountable.

He cared deeply for the people he covered and the fans who watched and that always came through in in his writing.

David Poole cared. And the sport and those that knew him are better off because he did.

It's a fine legacy for the family he was so proud of - the one thing in life he cared for most.

David Poole will be sadly missed his reporting on the sport whether it be in syndicated columns or via his blog Life in the Turn Lane was always thought provoking, if not controversial.

Full Throttle sends its respects to family, friends and colleagues in their time of sadness.

Heavyweight Greg Page Dies at 50

Former WBA heavyweight champ Greg Page, who suffered a severe brain injury in a 2001 fight, has died at his Louisville home at the age of 50. According to Page's wife, the ex-champ died from complications due to boxing injuries and paralysis.

Following a successful amateur career, Page went 58-17-1 during a professional career that began in 1979 and included wins over Jimmy Young, James Tillis, Renaldo Snipes, Gerrie Coetzee (for the WBA title), James 'Bonecrusher' Smith and Tim Witherspoon. Page's losses read like a who's who of heavyweights of the 1980s: Trevor Berbick, Witherspoon, Tony Tubbs, Buster Douglas, Joe Bugner, Orlin Norris, Donovan 'Razor' Ruddock, Bruce Seldon, Monte Barrett and Jorge Luis Gonzalez.

Page lost the title to Tony Tubbs in his first defence just four months later and saw his career decline inexorably with subsequent losses to fringe contenders such as Orlin Norris, Donovan Ruddock, Joe Bugner and Mark Wills (twice).

After a three year sabbatical - and at the age of 36 - Page made a comeback that never got off the ground, two years later losing to a young and unbeaten Monte Barrett, who was recently stopped by British heavyweight David Haye.

But on his last fight in 2001, Page suffered a 10th round knockout loss to Dale Crowe from which he would never fully recover.

He fell into a coma for a week and during post-fight surgery suffered a stroke that left him paralyzed on his left side and wheelchair-bound.

In 2007, Page won a $1.2 million settlement from the state of Kentucky over the lack of medical personnel at the fight. At least some good came out of Page's tragedy as it highlighted how backwards Kentucky was in terms of boxing safety and oversight. The state was forced to revamp its essentially non-existent boxing regulations and make them more consistent with federal standards. Under terms of Page's settlement, Kentucky also agreed to designate the new regulations as the "Greg Page Boxing and Safety Initiative."

Jayson Williams Suicidal

Former NBA star Jayson Williams, who played for the New Jersey Nets, has been hospitalized after holing up in a New York City hotel and trashing his room. Hotel officials described Williams as "suicidal" and called the police to intervene.

When police responded to the call Williams refused to leave his room and turned violent, resulting in the police using a taser on Williams.

The mercurial New Jersey Nets center, who faces a retrial for shooting his chauffeur in 2002, was rushed to St. Vincent's Hospital Manhattan in handcuffs after cops found suicide notes and empty pill bottles littering his 15th-floor room, sources said.

"Tell my mother that I love her," Williams, 41, wrote in one panicked scribble, police sources said.

Williams, who is going through a nasty divorce, was in a spacious room at the Hilton Embassy Suites in Battery Park City.

The 6-foot-10 former All-Star called his mother around 1 a.m. Things quickly went downhill as he became distraught and apparently started downing sleeping pills and anti-depressants.

A worried woman called cops around 4a.m., possibly from the room. Police smashed down the door to get inside.

The towering, 325-pound star fought back and police had to use the stun guns to subdue him. It took two sets of handcuffs to restrain him, cops said.

Cops found several suicide notes, including a message scrawled on the wall.

Williams was distraught over his divorce, his parents' illnesses and his impending retrial in the chauffeur-shooting case, they said.
His estranged wife, Tanya Young Williams, also arrived at the hospital, but emergency room staff would not let her see Williams.

Prosecutors charged that Williams was goofing off with a shotgun while giving a tour of this palatial home and the weapon went off, killing Christofi.

Williams gained notoriety after being charged with reckless manslaughter in the shooting death of his chauffeur in 2002.

swine flue

Swine Flu Questions Answered

According to Centers for Disease Control and prevention (CDC), a total of 12 human infections with swine influenza (swine flu) were reported from 10 states in the United States from December 2005 through February 2009. A new strain of swine influenza A (H1N1) virus infection in California, Texas, and Mexico have been identified since March 2009.

What is Swine Flu?
Swine Influenza (swine flu) is a respiratory disease of pigs caused by type A influenza that regularly cause outbreaks of influenza among pigs.

How is this strain different from a regular flu?

"A couple of things. There are four genetic materials comprised into one hybrid here. There's bird flu, pig flu from two different sources and the human influenza virus. So, it just makes it much more difficult to kind of pinpoint. (It's) never (been) seen before. That's one thing making it very significant."

It's been deadly in Mexico, but not as yet in the United States. Do we know why that is?

"It's unclear. First of all, there might not have been enough cases in the U.S. yet to reach that point, number one. Number two: There might be other factors at play. The health of the people who have become ill and subsequently died in Mexico might be different than the health of our patients. We're looking at it all very closely."

We know, even if we got a flu shot this year, we're not necessarily protected, and they're saying the symptoms are very similar to those of regular flu. At what point should I go to the doctor?

"They have the same symptoms. High fever, body aches, cough, runny nose. If you have those symptoms for 24 to 48 hours and you are getting worse and not better, or you have an underlying medical condition that might put you at higher risk of the complications of influenza, you should see your doctor. Otherwise, supportive care, stay home, and let time pass."

Do I need to demand that my doctor treat me for it?

"They will test for it. But you don't want to send too many people too quickly for just a regular viral syndrome to get tested, because that would overwhelm the (healthcare) system.

Is there any way to know the difference? What if I suddenly take ill? Should I immediately panic?

"Absolutely not. I mean, you really need to give this time. Most of the cases here, again, have been mild, and these viral syndromes do tend to be self-limiting. So really, do not panic at this point."

What should I be doing right now to protect my family? And is anyone in my family more susceptible?

"We don't know the answer to that. That's one of the things people are looking at. But the basic precautions apply. So, if you're exposed to someone who's sick, you want to try to stay as far away from them as possible. Hand-washing is very important because, actually, even though the particles are aerosolized and respiratory droplets, you actually expose yourself by touching your hands to your face. And, you know, the basic precautions apply.

What are the signs and symptoms of swine flu in people?
The symptoms of swine flu in people are similar to the symptoms of regular human flu and include fever, cough, sore throat, body aches, headache, chills and fatigue. Some people have reported diarrhea and vomiting associated with swine flu. In the past, severe illness (pneumonia and respiratory failure) and deaths have been reported with swine flu infection in people. Like seasonal flu, swine flu may cause a worsening of underlying chronic medical conditions.

In children
* Fast breathing or trouble breathing
* Bluish skin color
* Not drinking enough fluids
* Not waking up or not interacting
* Being so irritable that the child does not want to be held
* Flu-like symptoms improve but then return with fever and worse cough
* Fever with a rash

In adults
* Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath
* Pain or pressure in the chest or abdomen
* Sudden dizziness
* Confusion
* Severe or persistent vomiting

This is treatable, right?

It's susceptible to Tamiflu and Relenza if given early in the course of the illness.

Are protective surgical masks in order and, if so, for whom and when?

"Right now, the CDC is recommending that only when absolutely necessary, if you are in contact with a person who is infectious or has been diagnosed with this flu, you want to get what's called an N-95 mask. A regular surgical mask can offer some protection (but N-95 is more effective in keeping out the smallest infectious particles). This is one piece of the puzzle and we want to emphasize, masks are not recommended for the general public at this point."

Can I get swine flu from eating pork?

"No. That's the good news."

Bears Select WR Derek Kinder

Pitt wide receiver Derek Kinder was selected by the Chicago Bears in the seventh round of today's NFL draft. Kinder was the 42nd pick of the seventh round and the 251st player out of 256 players selected in the draft.

One other player of local interest, Liberty tailback Rashad Jennings, was selected in the seventh round as well. Jennings, who began his career at Pitt and then transferred to Liberty, was picked by Jacksonville one spot ahead of Kinder.

Also, Pitt long snapper Mark Estermyer (Blackhawk High School) is expected to sign a free agent contract with the Steelers.

BIOGRAPHY: Three-year starter who finished his senior season leading the team in receiving with 36/422/3. Sat on the sidelines in ?07 after tearing a ligament in his right knee. All-Conference selection as a junior after totals of 57/847/6.

POSITIVES: Nice-sized receiver who struggled making his way back from injury last year. Consistently looks the ball into his hands, makes the difficult over-the-shoulder reception, and not afraid to get vertical in a crowd for the catch. Possesses strong hands and pulls the fastball from the air. Comes back to the ball out of breaks, effectively using his frame to shield away opponents.

NEGATIVES: Marginally productive last season. Inconsistent as a blocker. Lacks the speed to get downfield separation.

ANALYSIS: Kinder possesses NFL size and displayed a lot of skill in the past. His game took a step back last year, and he must return to prior playing form for any chance to make a roster this summer.

PROJECTION: Free Agent

Brandi Chastain’s Bra

If you want to see the bra alive again, leave $250 in unmarked bills at the enclosed location. No tricks. Bra will be shipped within 5-7 business days.

The black sports bra that was worn by Bandi Chastain during the 1999 World Cup has been taken into custody by a U.S. Bankruptcy court. The Wall Street Journal is reporting that the Sports Museum of America has declared bankruptcy.

"The black sports undergarment she famously exposed to the world after a game-winning goal in the 1999 World Cup had been taken into custody by U.S. bankruptcy court. To secure its release from a storage facility in Newark, N.J., Ms. Chastain would have to pay $250 -- plus shipping. "Thank goodness I have another one," she jokes."

$250 plus shipping, for a sweaty old bra in this economy. I wouldn't pay 1 dollar for that. If I were Brandi I would tell them to keep it. I wonder where they get the balls to ask for money for items that have been donated?

Several celebrity sports items were grabbed in the bankruptcy case, among them Tony Hawk's childhood skateboard and Richard Petty's sunglasses. They had all been on loan to New York's Sports Museum of America, which recently declared Chapter 7 bankruptcy. If the celebrities don't claim them, they'll be auctioned. Hawk is not amused. And he ain't getting his board back like this.

Kyle Maynard Joins the MMA

This Saturday, Kyle Maynard, a congenital amputee with no elbows or knees, will make his amateur mixed martial arts debut at the Auburn Covered Arena in Auburn, Ala.

23-year-old Kyle Maynard will be joining the ranks of mixed martial arts fighters when he participates in an amateur event in Auburn, Alabama.

However, when he enters the ring, he’ll be doing so without any elbows, hands, knees or feet. Born a congenital amputee, Maynard certainly seems at a disadvantage in a fight, yet he has a few tricks up his sleeve. And he’s no slouch either.

The 2004 ESPY winner for "best athlete with a disability" captured the attention of the nation en route to a 35-16 high school amateur wrestling record.

As a high school senior he ended his varsity wrestling career with a 35-16 record. Pretty impressive. And then there’s his incredibly strong torso. With the torso of a heavyweight fighter, but the weight of a much smaller fighter (135 pounds to be exact), he’ll have the advantage of a much stronger chest and torso than his competition.

Also, since he lacks legs, he’ll be considered “grounded” throughout the entire competition. That means opponents won’t be able to kick or knee Maynard, leaving them with only elbows and fists to fight or full body wrestling — Maynard’s biggest strength. He’s also well rounded in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

Maynard knows that whatever happens, there will be no instant affection from the MMA officials and fans who don't want him to fight. Even a win would only begin to thaw the feelings, Maynard said.

"It would be a step in the right direction," Maynard told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com). "It won't be some kind of overnight thing that gets me a license. It's not like the athletic commissions will say, 'Oh, look, he can do it now.' But it would be a start."

Other Maynard supporters say the fight's outcome likely won't have any lingering significance.

"No (single) fight can have that large of an effect on the sport," said Cam McHargue, the MMA trainer from Georgia who will serve as the referee for Maynard's fight on Saturday. "Remember Sammy Vasquez?"

Vasquez became the first fighter to die from injuries sustained in an MMA fight in North American in December 2007.

"Some people do, but almost everyone has moved on," McHargue said. "It didn't have a dramatic effect."

Oblas, president of Undisputed Productions who is promoting the fight, has faced plenty of questions about the fight's possible long-term consequences. His answer echoes those of other Maynard supporters: That his motivational and uplifting spirit can be only a positive for the MMA community.

"Kyle's going to do more good for the sport than he will bad," Oblas said. "I guarantee it."

american idol disco night

American Idol Disco Night 4/21/09 will have an intense competition. Last week, Matt Giraud was saved by the judges. No contestant was eliminated last week. This means two contestants will be booted from American Idol Disco Night 4/21/09 to keep the pace going.

However,American Idol's disco night wasn't as much fun as it usually is; not even the usual wildy-creative Adam Lambert performance could save it.

I think as we get closer to the end, the finalists are playing it safe instead of letting loose and going for it. Either that or they just really can't pick good songs. I mean, three Donna Summers songs?!

Apparently trying to save time, Ryan jumped right into the performances this week. Well, right after reminding us that two people will be going home Wednesday night.

Adam Lambert's slowed-down, soulful "If I Can't Have You" was easily the best of the night--as Simon said, nobody's ever heard the song like that. It didn't give me goosebumps like some of his other performances, but it's one I'd watch again.

Kris Allen was next-best, taking an Adam-like risk with his guitar and folk art take on "She Works Hard for the Money." I didn't love it, but liked that he tried something different, and he definitely has charisma. Best part was it prompted Paula's comment about how much she loved that Kris went "shopping in the women's department."

Allison Iraheta did well with "Hot Stuff," vamping it up a bit; I keep waiting for her to really wow us, it's coming--right?! Likewise, Danny Gookey showed off his pipes with "September," the same way he's done every other week. And Anoop Desai broke out the pink sweater and stubble for "Dim All the Lights," which is all anyone will be talking about after an 'eh' performance from Noop Dawg.

If only Anoop could've stolen "Stayin' Alive" away from Matt Giraud , who sang it earnestly but a bit blandly, actually -- it's a song that needs to be vamped up, and the piano player from Kalamazoo just wasn't the one to do it.

Finally, Lil Rounds is going to get cut tomorrow for sure, after a lackluster "I'm Every Woman." She was a metaphor for the night--it could've been great given her vocal talents, but something was just missing.

Nobody had that element of wildness, the totally hedonistic 'dance like crazy and live-for-the-moment cause we'll probably all be dead tomorrow' attitude that was the Me Decade. Haven't these kids ever seen the Village People? Sister Sledge? Diana Ross?

Here's how I'd rank all of the performances.

Adam Lambert
Kris Allen
Matt Giraud
Danny Gokey
Anoop Desai

Leroy Tellgren arrested for Garza’s murder

Police arrested a 75-year-old man on a capital murder charge Monday night in the case of a woman missing since last week and whose body still has not been found.

Officers arrested Leroy Tellgren at his Carrollton home about 7:30 p.m., Coppell Police Chief Roy Osborne said. Investigators believe he killed Kathleen Garza, 49, whom he befriended several years ago when they worked together at a school.
Leroy Tellgren

"Unfortunately, this is one of those times that a police chief dreads," Osborne said in announcing the arrest at police headquarters. The chief declined to discuss a possible motive in the killing.

Kathleen Garza, 49, of Coppell, Texas, has been missing since Thursday, April 16. Leroy Tellgren, of Carrollton,75, has been arrested on charges of murder. Tellgren was arrested on Monday, April 20.

Kathleen Garza’s husband, Raul Garza, said his wife had a coffee date with Tellgren on Thursday, April 16. Tellgren has been jailed on a $1 million bail. Mrs Garza had worked with Mr Tellgren for 5 years and saw him as a friend and father figure. Garza and Tellgren worked in a school.

Garza's husband, Raul, said his wife had planned to meet Tellgren for coffee.

"She saw him as a father figure," Raul Garza said. "I had no reason to believe otherwise."

When he couldn't reach his wife, he said, he called Tellgren, who told him he didn't know where she was.

"It blows my mind why anybody would hurt her," he said.

Osborne said police have also recovered Tellgren's pickup truck. But they want to talk to any witnesses who may have seen Tellgren between 9 a.m. and 10 p.m. Thursday.

"We still want to find Kathy," Garza said as he fought back tears.

Tellgren was believed to have been driving the dark green Chevrolet S-10 extended-cab pickup truck with Texas license plates 46X WC5. The truck has a Masonic Lodge insignia on the back, police said.

Garza had worked as a teacher at Coppell Middle School East but left last May, according to her husband.

Over the weekend, family, friends and neighbors posted fliers at businesses in Coppell and surrounding areas seeking information about Garza.

Police had said they spoke to a person of interest shortly after she disappeared.

Police hope that by tracing the routes Tellgren used, they may get clues to locate Kathleen Garza’s body. Police have not disclosed why they had reason to believe Garza was murdered.

philip markoff,suspected "Craiglist Killer"

Boston cops on Monday night branded a 22-year-old premed student the "Craigslist Killer" who murdered a pretty New York masseuse and attacked at least two other escorts in hotels.

Markoff was engaged and he and his fiancee had a website together: www.megan-philip.com.

Phil Markoff and his fiancee met in undergrad at the University of Albany in New York. According to their site, she was a senior at the time and Markoff was a sophomore.

The couple volunteered together at a nearby medical center, doing scut work in the Emergency Room. Their first date was on November 11, 2005. They were engaged in May, 2008 and were set to be married on August 14 this year.

People who go on crime sprees often experience a specific stressor - some event that 'sets them off.' It isn't that they snap - it's more that something coalesces inside the spree criminal. Could stresses related to a relationship or impending nuptials have set off the so-called "Craigslist killer?"

That's just one of many questions people will probably ask about the accused, Phil Markoff. You'd think after much more prolific and evil criminals like Andrew Cunanan and before him, Ted Bundy, that people would learn that violent criminals come in all sorts of packages. Even in the guise of a beefy, blond med student with a GQ smile.

Philip Markoff, a Boston University student who lives in Quincy, a harborside town 10 miles south of Boston, will be arraigned on murder charges Tuesday.

Cops said the brainy blond doctor wanna-be has no rap sheet, but they think he has preyed on sex workers for a while. Police begged other victims to come forward.

Markoff, who was arrested after cops tailed him for several days, will be charged in Boston Municipal Court with the murder of Julissa Brisman.

The slain 26-year-old New Yorker advertised her services on craigslist and was shot in a posh Boston hotel April 14.

Markoff also will be charged with kidnapping and robbery for an attack four days earlier in another luxury Boston hotel on an erotic dancer who advertised online.

Police believe the April 16 armed robbery of a Las Vegas hooker in a Rhode Island hotel is also connected.

Brisman's mother was glad to hear there was a break in the case, but she was too distraught to talk.

"It is great that they found him, but it's not going to bring back our girl."

Cops credited "high-tech leads and old-fashioned shoe leather" for the arrest.

Cops stopped Markoff at 4 p.m. Monday as he drove south of the city on Interstate 95, Davis said. He agreed to come in for questioning and was arrested at headquarters.

The break came hours after police released new security camera photos showing the clean-cut, 6-foot-tall blond suspect strolling casually to and from the three crime scenes peering into his BlackBerry.

The new pictures were taken last Thursday in the hallway of a Warwick, R.I., Holiday Inn Express, where a prostitute who advertised on craigslist was tied up and robbed at gunpoint.

Markoff is expected to be charged in that attack, too.

Cops say Markoff's first known attack was April 10, when a 29-year-old woman who advertised as an erotic dancer on craigslist was attacked at Boston's Westin hotel. She was bound and robbed of her debit card and $800 in cash.

Four days later, Brisman was shot multiple times in a 20th-floor room of the Copley Marriott, apparently because she fought the thief's attempts to restrain her with plastic handcuffs known as "zip ties."

danica patrick fight

Patrick is the hard-charging driver/cover girl/swimsuit model who turned the venerable Indianapolis 500 on its ear in 2005, at age 23, by leading the race for 19 laps and finishing fourth, unprecedented achievements by a woman. Since then, she has become the face of the I.R.L., its most marketable asset and a driver for perhaps the best team, Andretti Green.

But her contract with Andretti Green expires after this season, and speculation about Patrick’s next career move is heating up. Will she remain in the open-wheel world of I.R.L.? Is the globetrotting Formula One circuit an option? Or will she jump to the stock cars of Nascar’s Sprint Cup series, the richest and most visible racing league in the United States?

DANICA PATRICK (No. 7 Motorola, fourth): "It was a good job on the strategy and getting that right. We pitted at the right times. I believe they just said Dario (Franchitti) and I were on that strategy. If the yellows would have fallen just right, we’d have had the lead, and there was just no passing out there. Unfortunately, I made a little mistake and Will Power got by and then Tony Kanaan got by me because of the blend line, but it’s weird because there’s no way he would have beat me out, because I passed him still on the track, but the way that the blend line works, it’s so early in the straightaway compared to where you enter. But it was a much better result, obviously, for us, and I’m real proud of how we all kept our heads down and made a result out of it instead of getting down. The Motorola guys did a great job and got me out quickly."

The Craigslist Killer and Julissa Brisman

Boston has a Craigslist killer and Julissa Brisman, is the latest victim of the murderer who targets women advertising services on the popular site.

Julissa Brisman was a young model who lived in New York City, but seemed always on the move. She would jet off to Colorado, as she did recently, or fly to Chicago, always a bit mysteriously, her friends said.

26-year old Julissa Brisman was shot to death when she struggled with the Craigslist killer in the doorway of her hotel room at the Marriott Copley Place hotel Tuesday night.

Brisman was shot multiple times in the torso and police found a plastic restraint on one wrist.

The Craigslist killer calls women advertising services on the site, makes appointments to meet them at luxury hotels and then immediately ties them up and robs or kills them when he arrives.

Hotel guest Jane Greenberg was reading a book in a nearby room when she heard banging and other noises coming from the hallway.

The Boston Police Department said in a statement that a robbery might have taken a turn for the worse. “It appears that the victim engaged in a struggle in the threshold of the hotel room immediately prior to the shooting,” the police said.

Detectives in Boston are investigating whether her killing was related to a robbery on Friday at the Westin Hotel Copley Place, where a 29-year-old woman was robbed at gunpoint in her hotel room.

Hundreds of miles from Boston, those in New York who knew Ms. Brisman tried to absorb the news of her death.

Many said they had tried to phone her or send text messages to her, but got no response. Others pointed out that her online activity had uncharacteristically waned in recent days, saying that usually, even when she traveled around the country, she stayed linked through the Internet.

India Autry, 24, a student at New York University Law School who described herself as a friend, said that Ms. Brisman had not been active on the Facebook Web site since Tuesday morning. “She is usually very active on that,” she said. “It’s just a horrible tragedy.”

Ms. Autry said the last time she had seen Ms. Brisman was a “couple weeks ago.” She said Ms. Brisman had a dog and was “lively, cheerful and caring.”

Celtics GM danny ainge suffers heart attack

After likely losing their emotional leader on the court for the duration of the playoffs, the Celtics will start their postseason without their field general in the front office. Celtics president and GM Danny Ainge is "resting comfortably" in a hospital today after suffering a heart attack earlier this morning, according to WCVB TV in Boston.

The Celtics released a statement saying Ainge, 50, is recovering nicely at Massachusetts General Hospital and that he is expected to remain in the hospital for a few days, most likely through Boston's playoff opener with Chicago on Saturday.

Ainge woke up this morning with chest pains, and upon arriving to the hospital doctors inserted a stent to clear an artery that was 100% clogged. Fortunately it appears that he's avoided any serious problems, but he likely won't be able to attend the first game of Boston's playoff series with the Bulls on Saturday.

Ainge orchestrated Boston's run to an NBA-record 17th Championship in franchise history last season, having acquired All-Stars Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen in trades and pairing them with Paul Pierce to form the "Big Three." For his work, Ainge won the 2007-08 NBA Executive of the Year.

Jennifer Lea Burton Teacher Sex Scandal

We have yet another teacher scandal today, and this time the name is Jennifer Lea Burton. This case has been mostly under the radar but after the news today of Tamara Hofmann, it has come to the public.

Here are pictures of Jennifer Lea Burton, former Orangefield Junior High School coach and teacher. Burton has been indicted on three charges of sexual assault and another three for improper relationship between an educator and a student. Jennifer Lea Burton was charged because of having repeated sexual relationships with a 15 year old female student. These happened between September 2008 and November 2008.

The indictment reportedly said

“[The events] cover a period from September 2008 through November 2008. Burton was a teacher/coach at Orangefield Junior High School and the victim was a student of that school.”

Orange County District Attorney John Kimbrough said:

“We will then make sure she has an attorney and we will give the attorney several months to investigate all aspects of the case. She (Burton) will then make the decision on either to plead guilty or not guilty to have a trial. That is the stages.”

The superintendent of the Orangefield Independent School District issued the following statement:

“The entire school community is shocked and saddened to learn that a professional teacher might be involved in any crime against a child. School district personnel will continue their focus on maintaining a safe school environment for our students.”

Jennifer Lea Burton is 39 years old and taught and coached at Orange Field Junior High School.

No comment by Burton.

linda bollea And Hulk Hogan Split!

Despite Hulk Hogan drawing parallels between himself and O.J. Simpson during an interview with Rolling Stone, a rep for the reality star told Access Hollywood that Hulk “in no way condones the O.J. situation.”

The former wrestling star told the mag that following his divorce from his wife, Linda Bollea, he could imagine it getting gruesome.

In the new issue of Rolling Stone, Hulk Hogan goes off on his wife Linda Bollea, 48, for leaving him for "some shaggy-haired pool boy 30 years her junior."

“I could have turned everything into a crime scene, like O.J., cutting everybody’s throat,” he said. “You live half a mile from the 20,000-square-foot home you can’t go to anymore, you’re driving through downtown Clearwater and see a 19-year-old boy driving your Escalade, and you know that a 19-year-old boy is sleeping in your bed, with your wife ... I totally understand O.J. I get it.”

On Apr. 9, Hogan appeared in court to request that a judge prohibit Bollea from allowing her boyfriend, Charlie Hill, to drive his and Bollea's cars and boat, claiming that Hill exposes Hogan's family to a tremendous amount of liability because he has a history of traffic violations. (An attorney for Bollea claims that Hogan's request is a ploy to control her and Hill's love life.)
Bollea, who wed Hogan in 1983, filed for divorce in November 2007. A newspaper reporter broke the news that his wife was divorcing him. "Holy smokes," he said upon hearing the news. "Wow, you just knocked the bottom out of me."

The split grew increasingly ugly a short time later when Bollea publicly began dating Hill who was one of daughter Brooke's former classmates.

Linda, 49, filed for divorce from Hulk, 55, in Nov. 2007 after 24 years of marriage.

Keshia Knight Pulliam and Kaseem Penn!

Rudy from "The Cosby Show" has grown up, and she's about to show off her life on cable TV.

Keshia and Kaseem on Oxygen will star Keshia Knight Pulliam (Cosby Show’s Rudy) and boyfriend Kaseem Penn. Keshia and Kaseem with Pulliam was confirmed today as a new reality show in development for Oxygen:

“Keshia and Kaseem” (WT)

Former Cosby kid Keshia Knight Pulliam (”Rudy”) and her entrepreneur boyfriend and business partner, Kaseem Penn, learn first-hand how the trivial turns epic when newly cohabitating. Together for almost two years, Keshia has recently forsaken her Atlanta home, spending most of her time at Kaseem’s place in the exclusive Cascades community of Atlanta. Between Keshia’s exploding television and movie career, and Kaseem’s many business endeavors, the relationship questions loom… Is it possible to have a successful union without the ceremony?

Oxygen said Wednesday that it's developing a reality show about actress Keshia Knight Pulliam and her live-in boyfriend, Atlanta area entrepreneur Kaseem Penn. It will explore what it's like being young, rich, single and co-habitating. No air date is set for the show, titled "Keshia and Kaseem."

Come summer, Oxygen will premiere a series called "Dance Your Ass Off." It'll be hosted by Marissa Jaret Winokur, who won a Tony for her performance in "Hairspray" as Tracy Turnblad, the full-figure teen who yearns to dance on a TV show in 1960s Baltimore; she's also appeared on "Dancing With the Stars." In the Oxygen show, competitors try to show off their dancing skills and lose weight _ sort of like "The Biggest Loser" with rhythm.

Since being bought by NBC Universal, Oxygen has been seeking an audience of trendsetting women, generally aged 18 to 34. Its theme is "live out loud."

Oxygen's most visible stars are Tori Spelling and husband Dean McDermott, who are filming the fourth season of their own reality series based on their lives. The network announced a broad development deal with the pair to make a TV movie, a makeover show that features the couple, and Web content based on Spelling's book "Mommywood."

The network will have two other new series later this year. "Addicted to Beauty," called a "docu-comedy," is about the staff of a plastic surgery facility in California. "The Naughty Kitchen with Chef Blythe Beck" follows the life of the 29-year-old, Dallas-based chef.

Barbara Bush & Jay Blount wedding

George W. Bush's daughter Barbara is following in her grandmother's footsteps. The other Bush twin is said to be marrying on-again, off-again beau Jay Blount, a 2005 Yale graduate and fraternity member, this summer.

Barbara Bush and Jay Blount may be getting married in summer 2009. Gossip said marriage was on the cards for Bush and Blount.Yale University’s “Rumpus”magazine wrote that Jay Blount was initially rejected by Yale. Barbara Bush’s dad wrote Blount a letter of recommendation. Blount received a place and one year of free tuition.Blount is an associate at Casey Quirk, an investment management consultancy, which pays even junior staffers six-figure salaries. (The firm tells its clients how to tell their clients how to manage their money, or something like that.) His Sig Ep brothers are no doubt breathlessly excited about the news — though their description of Blount as a "hottie" leaves their judgment in question.

Update: Apparently Blount was hot in college, according to the Yale Rumpus! Also, he seemed to have horticultural leanings, nudge nudge, wink wink. We think that's how frat boys make marijuana jokes, at any rate.

mark fidrych dead

Mark Fidrych, an eccentric All-Star pitcher nicknamed "The Bird" whose career was shortened by injuries, was found dead Monday in an apparent accident at his farm. He was 54.

Worcester County district attorney Joseph D. Early Jr. said a family friend found Fidrych about 2:30 p.m. Monday beneath a dump truck at his Northborough, Mass., farm. He appeared to be working on the truck, Early said.

The curly-haired right-hander was the American League Rookie of the Year in 1976 when he went 19-9 with a 2.34 ERA and 24 complete games. He spent all five of his major league seasons with the Detroit Tigers, compiling a 29-19 record and a 3.10 ERA.

Fidrych, who worked in trucking and construction since his baseball career ended in 1983, had a job scheduled for yesterday morning, but the site wasn’t ready, so he returned home. Later in the day, Amorello, the owner of the A.F. Amorello & Sons construction company for which Fidrych often worked, stopped by Fidrych’s home to say hello and discuss an upcoming job, only to encounter a gruesome scene.

Neither the district attorney’s office nor the Northborough Police Department would confirm further details of the accident. Reached via cell phone last night, Amorello said, ‘‘It was obvious there was nothing I could do at that time.’’

Fidrych’s baseball legacy is as one of its more memorable and enjoyable shooting stars in the sport’s history. In 1976 -- less than two full years after the Tigers selected the lanky righthander in the 10th round of the 1974 amateur draft out of Worcester Academy -- Fidrych made the Tigers’ Opening Day roster out of spring training as a non-roster invitee.

Fidrych acquired the nickname "the Bird" because of his resemblance to the Big Bird character on the Sesame Street television show. During games, he would bend down and groom the mound with his hands, talk to the baseball and slap five with teammates in the middle of the diamond.

Fidrych’s starts soon became must-see events -- he appeared on the covers of ‘‘Sports Illustrated’’ (once with Big Bird) and ‘‘Rolling Stone,’’ among others. But his newfound celebrity did not hinder him on the mound.
He marrying his wife, Ann, in 1986. He lived on a 107-acre farm, and owned his own trucking company for a time. Friends say he remained as beloved in his hometown as he was in Detroit during the heady summer of ’76.

‘‘Mark was still very popular everywhere,’’ Amorello said. ‘‘We rented his truck from time to time, and he would work on our crews [at our contruction] company. People would still stop him all the time asking for an autograph or picture, and he was always patient, nice and humble.

‘‘You’d never have known he was an ex-ballplayer by the way he carried himself. The guy had a million friends.’’

Sometimes, Amorello said, his past profession would have an impact on his present one.
‘‘He did a ton of charity work. Every once in a while he’d have to ask for day off to go to some event, always for some good cause here or there. We’d give him a hard time about him losing his spot [on the work crew], that we were putting him at the bottom of the pecking order, but it was all in good fun.’’

Sometimes the fun was at Fidrych’s expense -- particularly when he was on the dance floor. Amorello and his wife, Nancy, both laughed at the recollection of their friend doing what they dubbed ‘‘The Fidrych Dance’’ at a wedding.

‘‘Oh, he thought he was dancing, but it was horrible,’’ said Nancy Amorello recalled. ‘‘He’s be flailing his legs, limbs flying everywhere, leaving five or six people with a bruise.

‘‘That was Mark Fidrych, though. The life of the party. A hell of a guy.’’

State police detectives are investigating the circumstances of his death, Early said.

Martina Navratilova's Ex-Lover Threatens

Martina Navratilova may have a scandal on her hands. The pro tennis player’s longtime lover, Toni Layton, has been threatening to air Navratilova’s proverbial dirty laundry if she doesn’t receive a bigger split settlement.

The women were together for eight years and Layton claims she had an integral impact on the course of Navratilova’s career, which has earned the Wimbledon winner millions

Martina Navratilova wants a monetary settlement she considers fair, or else she will reveal the tennis legend’s deepest secrets, reports the New York Post.

"There are a lot of skeletons in Martina's closet,” Toni Layton told the Page Six gossip sheet. “It is more like a storage facility full of them, and I know them all,” she said.

Said Layton’s lawyer, "Layton was offered a measly, flat $200,000 for eight long years of 24/7 work and support for the enrichment and betterment of [a] multimillionaire athlete. The offer was an insult. Navratilova is using Florida’s failure to recognize gay marriage to her advantage."

Thus, says Layton, she deserves more than the $200,000 Navratilova offered her when they broke up. If she doesn’t receive additional funds, Layton has promised to spread Navratilova’s secrets, she told the New York Post: "There are a lot of skeletons in Martina’s closet. It is more like a storage facility full of them, and I know them all." Layton’s lawyers insist that she’s not a gold digger; they are simply taking a stand for gay rights.

Layton left her husband for Navratilova, and the couple lived together in Florida.

“Navratilova is using Florida's failure to recognize gay marriage to her advantage,” said Layton’s spokesperson, Gary Flack.

"We are standing up for gay rights in this case," said Raymond Rafool, the lawyer for Layton. "Toni has the right to obtain a fair settlement the same as if she were the spouse in a traditional marriage."

A spokesperson for Navratilova had no comment.

Kenny Perry can make history at Masters

He's old, trying to become the oldest, and on this Easter Sunday Kenny Perry might face the most pressure he ever has.48-year-old Kenny Perry—the 2009 Masters co-leader heading into the final round—was asked about the secret to his newfound success at an age when most players are on the decline, he cited a change of putters.

Here’s what the Golf Channel asked Perry after Saturday's round: “Three wins last year, one win this year...How have you gotten better with age?”

"This might be my last time to have this opportunity," Perry said Saturday, within the round of his life of winning his first major. "I think you just need to put yourself in these positions. You need to test yourself to see what's inside you. I admire the guys who wear the green jacket. I know how hard it is, how hard they fought for it."

Should Perry prevail, not only would he surpass Jack Nicklaus (46) as the oldest Masters champ, but he would be the oldest to win any major, beating by four months Julius Boros, who was 48 years and four months when he won the 1968 PGA.

He goes into today's final round tied with 2007 U.S. Open champion Angel Cabrera at 11-under 205, with a two-shot lead on Chad Campbell - and not wanting to even think how the green jacket might feel if he gets the chance to slip one on."

"I'm not going to answer that until it actually happens," said Perry, who shot a 2-under 70 to Cabrera's 69 Saturday. "To me, I don't want to look there. I've got to stay in the moment ... stay ready. Any other tournament when I've looked into the future, I've not had much success."

"My short game is why it has happened. My putting has been a huge change. I've always been decent with the driver and the irons, but I've never been good with the flatstick. A gentleman gave me that putter at Bent Pine, my club in Vero Beach, and I've putted beautifully ever since he gave me this putter."

He knows how grizzled Cabrera is. The 39-year-old Argentine held off Tiger Woods and Jim Furyk to win at Oakmont, one of the hardest U.S. Open courses ever.

The man whose Spanish nickname - El Pato - means The Duck is huge off the tee and will be attacking the pins.

"What I learned is that I can win," Cabrera said, looking back two years. "I can win big tournaments."

He's not alone. Furyk, the '03 Open champ and one of golf's elite, sits three shots back after a 68. But the most dangerous names lurk in a 10th-place scrum, seven back: Tiger Woods (70), Phil Mickelson (71) - who will be paired together in a delicious convergence - and Anthony Kim (72).

If Woods - who came out of the box with just his 11th double bogey in 15 Masters - can pull this off in his first major after having his knee rebuilt, he will make history. This time, however, it may be too much to ask, even of a man who makes the impossible look routine.

None of Woods' 14 major titles has come after he has trailed through 54 holes. Not only does he find himself behind going into Sunday at the Masters, but he's seven shots back with nine people in front of him.

"It depends," he said. "If Kenny and Chad go off and shoot 2, 3, 4-more under par from where they are right now, it almost puts it out of reach for us. But if they come back a little bit or stay where they're at, we've still got a chance."

If Woods' confidence matches that of his playing partner today, who knows?

Said Mickelson: "I don't think I'm out of it by any means."

What he needs, however, is for Perry, Cabrera and all the other leaders to come back to the pack. Perry thinks Saturday's round will help prevent that.

"Today was a good test for me," he said "I didn't have my stuff for whatever reason. I fought hard, I battled hard. The first two days felt like I was on vacation. Today felt like I was on the job."

Perry was the only player to get to 12-under when he birdied No. 10 to take the outright lead but he missed an eight-footer to save par on the difficult 11th and went long on the par-3 12th.

Campbell, Perry's playing partner, ran into trouble when he found the back bunker on No.16 and double bogeyed.

"It's just a mistake you can't really make," Campbell said after his 72. "That's the only place on that hole you can't hit it."

Cabrera, who called it a "spectacular" round, birdied two of the last four holes to get into the clubhouse first at 11-under. Perry then had a chance to birdie the last but missed about a 25-footer.

Deep down, Perry, who thought last year's Ryder Cup would be the pinnacle of his career, really knows what this means.

"Most people who talk about me say I'm a nice guy and a good player. That's all you'll hear," he said. "Maybe that will change tomorrow."

Perry, meanwhile, strung together 11 consecutive pars until making his first birdie at the 12th, moving to 12-under par. Campbell joined him in the lead with a birdie at the 15th.

Perry could become the oldest major champion in history at 48 years, eight months and two days old.

andrew thomas gallo hit Nick Adenhart

Andrew Thomas Gallo is the alleged hit and run driver in the crash of Nick Adenhart (photo above). Andrew Thomas Gallo had been arrested on hit and run with other charges pending, says reports.

A woman who answered the phone this morning on Harding Street in Riverside, an address listed for Andrew Thomas Gallo, said she was a relative, speaking on behalf of Gallo's parents.

She said his parents were "too distraught" to talk about the accident that claimed the life of Angels pitcher Nick Adenhart and two others in Fullerton.

The modest house, decorated with icicle lights in the 3500 block of Harding Street, is on a cul-de-sac behind the Riverside Medical Center. Baby shoes and pink baby clothes were on the front porch. The blinds were drawn and no one answered the doorbell.

Gallo, 22, was driving a red minivan that may have run a red light this morning and broadsided a silver Mitsubishi sedan carrying Adenhart, two other people who were also killed and a fourth person who was injured. The impact spun both vehicles and one hit a Honda.

Reports claim Gallo allegedly fled the scene of the accident which left three dead, one additional person critical. Gallo is 22 and a resident of San Bernandino.

Says reports:

A public records search shows that Andrew Thomas Gallo, 22, lived on Broadmoor Boulevard in San Bernardino as of December 2008 and had previously lived on Harding Street in Riverside as recently as 2005. CNN reported that Gallo will face charges of manslaughter, felony driving under the influence and hit-and-run.

Adenhart, 22, was taken to UCI Medical Center where he died in surgery, a news release stated.

Tonight's scheduled game against Oakland has been postponed.

Gallo ran away from the scene and was arrested a half-hour later by Anaheim police, stated a Fullerton Police Department news release. He is being treated at UCI Medical Center for injuries and arrested on suspicion of felony drunk driving, felony hit and run and vehicular manslaughter, the release stated.

Gallo's license remained suspended from a prior drunken driving conviction, said spokeswoman Sylvia Palmer Murdick.

In San Bernardino County, a man with the same name, Andrew Thomas Gallo, and same age, 22 pleaded guilty to a driving under the influence charge in May of 2006, court records show.

He was placed on three years' probation and ordered to attend a county-approved first-offender alcohol program, and pay fines of about $1,400.

Longtime WSMV-TV anchor and media icon Dan Miller died Wednesday night of a heart attack at the age of 67 in his hometown of Augusta, Ga.

Miller was the long time and well know face and newsman of WSMV Channel 4.

Miller was in Augusta for the Masters Golf Tournament and was accompanied on the trip by longtime colleagues and friends Rudy Kalis and Terry Bulger. He was apparently walking through his old neighborhood with Kalis when he became short of breath.

Last night he suffered an apparent heart attack and could not be revived.

Miller was a native of Augusta and worked in TV there and Columbia, SC before moving to Nashville in 1969.

Miller has been a fixture of Nashville television even though he spent a small amount of time in Los Angeles. In LA he was an anchor at KCBS and worked with his longtime friend and former WSMV weatherman Pat Sajak on the CBS late night Pat Sajak show.

In addition to his work as anchor, Miller also hosted a Sunday night talk show on WSMV during the '70s and '80s called Miller & Company. The show, which was eventually picked up by the national cable channel TNN, featured Miller at his best, sitting in a restaurant booth casually speaking to guests in his friendly but engaging style.

Ann Kelly Affair With Bruce Springsteen??

He may be The Boss, but Bruce Springsteen is also a home wrecker, a Red Bank man has claimed in his divorce papers.

Ann Kelly had an affair with Bruce Springsteen because of that Arthur Kelly filed his divorce papers stating his estranged wife Ann Kelly. Arthur Kelly alleged Springsteen and Ann Kelly were adulterers. Bruce Springsteen and Ann Kelly refused to comment on this case. Arthur Kelly’s lawyer also refused to comment.

Businessman Arthur J. Kelly named the Jersey rock 'n' roller as the reason for the breakup of his 17-year marriage to Ann C. Kelly, according to a complaint filed in Superior Court in Monmouth County last month.

Arthur Kelly alleged his estranged wife, who lives in Long Branch, "has committed adultery with one Bruce Springsteen, who resides in Rumson, N.J., and Colts Neck, N.J., at various times and places too numerous to mention."Arthur Kelly is seeking joint custody of the couple's two daughters, 13 and 10, and wants his soon-to-be ex to pay child support as well as a portion of the girls' college education, insurance and extracurricular activities and summer camp costs.

The complaint also says a temporary restraining order was issued between the couple -- though it did not specify on whose behalf -- but the order was eventually dismissed March 26 following a consent order. Arthur Kelly filed the request for divorce the next day.

The Kellys have been married for 17 years, according to the divorce papers. Springsteen has been married to his backup singer, Patti Scialfa, for 17 years as well. They have three children.

Reports had Springsteen seeing Scialfa before the demise of his first marriage to actress Julianne Phillips in 1989.

marvin webster human eraser dies at 56

Marvin Webster, known to Knicks fans in the 1980's as the "Human Eraser" for his shot-blocking prowess, died on Saturday in a Tulsa hotel. He was 56.

His body was discovered in a bathtub in his room Monday morning in the downtown Ambassador Hotel, police said Wednesday.

Foul play is not suspected and the death apparently stemmed from an illness, police spokesman Jason Willingham said. He added that the former 7-foot-1 center had been living at the hotel and employees grew concerned after not seeing him for several days.

The medical examiner office said the cause of death has not been determined. W. Charles Bennett, Webster's former agent and current financial adviser, said Webster's death was related to coronary artery disease.

Webster, a 7-1 center, was a Knick for eight seasons, from 1979 through the early part of the 1986 season, mainly used in a reserve role behind starting center Bill Cartwright on teams coached by Willis Reed, Red Holzman (in his second tour of duty) and Hubie Brown.

"He was a great shot-blocker in college," Willis Reed told the Daily News. "He was tall, he had long arms, he was fairly mobile and he had good anticipation. He was a very nice person. I coached him for only 14 games. I wish I had him longer because with Bob McAdoo, who was a great scorer, I thought that would be a great combination for our front line."

Webster gained his colorful nickname when he was an accomplished shot-blocker on the college level, playing for his hometown school, Morgan State, in Baltimore. Although he started only 96 of 402 games as a Knick, he led the team in blocked shots for five seasons, including four straight, from 1981-84. His top overall season was his first, in 1978-79, when he averaged 11 points, 10.9 rebounds and 1.9 blocks.

To get Webster from Seattle as a free agent in Aug., 1978, the Knicks paid dearly, with the popular power forward Lonnie Shelton awarded to the Sonics.

"Marvin's career was not as fruitful as it should have been," Reed said. "He was one of those players who had ability but did not live up to his potential."

Webster had a series of injuries and did not play in either of his last two seasons, in 1985 or 1986.

Webster also played for Denver, Seattle and Milwaukee, while starting his career with Denver in the old ABA.

His son, Marvin Webster Jr., played college basketball at Temple but died during his sophomore year at 18 after a heart attack.

Nobody is safe from Eminem's mockery in "We Made You," the first video from his forthcoming album Relapse — including Jessica Simpson, Lindsay Lohan and Gov. Sarah Palin.

The video opens with the rapper lampooning Rock of Love's guylinered "love"-seeker Bret Michaels and a full-figured, cheeseburger-devouring Simpson in her famous Daisy Dukes. Also on Shady's "To Skewer" list are Kim Kardashian showing off her glutes, a bustier-wearing Palin and Lohan polishing Samantha Ronson's tonsils.

In the video for his single "We Made You," the rapper pokes fun at a plethora of celebrities. While actors impersonate several young celebrities, including Kevin Federline, Britney Spears, Lindsay Lohan, Jessica Simpson and Amy Winehouse, it is the faux Sarah Palin who’s getting the most attention.

Also causing jaws to drop are the lyrics about Palin. Eminem, born Marshall Bruce Mathers III, raps about sleeping with the Alaska governor. No word on what Palin thinks of her faux musical "cameo."

The "We Made You" video premiered on MTV Tuesday morning. The single will appear on Eminem’s "Relapse" album due out May 19. Just thought we’d let you know in case you care to add him to your playlist.

Simpson ignores Eminem’s video parody

Jessica Simpson is among the celebrities on the receiving end of Eminem’s vitriol in the video for his song “Made For You.” In the video, Simpson is portrayed as quite voluptuous, and a cheeseburger is never far from her reach.

Don’t worry about her, though, she’s just fine.

“Of course Jess finds it annoying,” a friend of hers said, “but it’s not like she’s the only one who was singled out.” True enough: Few boldface names were spared. Jennifer Aniston, Sarah Palin, Britney Spears and Ellen DeGeneres were among those Eminem mocked in the video.

The only fire Simpson’s camp was putting out on April 8, the day the video hit the Internet, was about the current state of her music career. It was reported that Simpson was dropped by her record label, Sony Nashville. However, her rep noted that not only was she not dropped, but Sony Nashville is not actually Simpson’s label after all.

“Jessica is and has always been an Epic artist,” said the rep. “She was on loan to Sony Nashville for her country album. She continues to be on Epic’s label.”
