dallas car chase
A Dallas car chase in Texas has came to an end this afternoon with no one yet knowing why the suspect was on the run.
A dangerous, high-speed car chase ensued Monday afternoon as police hunted down a suspect driving a Nissan. The suspect drove the car into the grass twice before getting off a major highway onto surface streets.
A 90 minute high speed police chase that started in Mesquite, Texas had police pursuing a car through Dallas-Fort Worth. The driver managed to avoid spike strips and took out several traffic signs.
This chase seemed to dominate network news, with live helicopter pictures from a Dallas News chopper that even momentarily bumped Michael Jackson coverage off of the screen.
It began near the intersection of I-635 and I-30 about 1:00 p.m., when police attempted to pull the small gray Nissan over for a routine traffic stop. The driver, reportedly wanted on several drug charges, sped away and led police through two counties and four major highways before crashing.
The 11 unit chase wound through parts of Dallas with sheriff’s vehicles assisting and a Dallas police helicopter helping from the air. Today’s big chase ended when Michel ran a red light and was t-boned by a man in a pickup truck named Lance Anderson, who did not sustain any serious injuries.
No word on the condition of the suspect.
