The son of Shoreline Christian Center’s co-pastors, 17-year-old Caleb Koke died in a car accident this morning, according to the officials. Shoreline Christian Center is an interdenominational church in North Austin.
Caleb Koke, 17, was driving eastbound on RM 2243 at around 3 a.m. when he crashed the 2007 Chevrolet Denali into a tree. Koke was pronounced dead at the scene, Department of Public Safety officials said.
Caleb Koke has been notified as the son of senior pastor Robert Koke and pastor Laura Koke. According to executive pastor D.R. Dickey, Caleb Koke was returning home from a bowling event when the accident occurred.
The chapel at Shoreline Christian Center will be open until 8 p.m. so members can come to the church to pray for the family, Dickey said.
Executive pastor D.R. Dickey also said, “It is really a difficult time for Pastor Koke who lost his father in the last week’s boating accident, and now his son died following a car accident.”
Services are pending, he said.
