Bruce Rossmeyer, the owner of what is billed as the largest Harley-Davidson dealership in the world, was killed today in Wyoming while riding with friends from the Harley dealer meetings in Colorado to Sturgis, South Dakota, the site of the Sturgis Rally, according to the Daytona News Journal.Rossmeyer was 64 years old.

Although the details of the accident are still sketchy, it seems that Bruce Rossmeyer was the last of the group to pass a vehicle with trailer when this same vehicle made a left turn.

Rossmeyer, a long-time Daytona Beach resident, was “retired” from the automobile business when he purchased in January 1994 his first Harley-Davidson dealership in Daytona Beach, Florida.Then he followed up with New Smyrna Harley-Davidson in 1997, Grand Junction Harley-Davidson in 1997, Ft. Lauderdale Harley-Davidson in 1998, Harley-Davidson of Pompano in 2002, and Aspen Valley Harley Davidson in 2002. In 2006, he opened another South Florida dealership, Sunrise Harley-Davidson, and Southern Thunder Harley-Davidson in Horn Lake, Mississippi.

More important than the Harley-Davidson empire that he created, Bruce Rossmeyer was always supportive of all those, small or big companies, making a living in this business, with a special affection he had for all Custom Builders. In addition he was an extremely active communitarian and a huge benefactor of a great number of charities

He is survived by his wife, five children and seven grandchildren.

Former Philadelphia Eagles defensive coordinator Jim Johnson died Tuesday afternoon at age 68, the Eagles announced.

Johnson had taken a leave of absence from the team in May as he continued to battle a cancerous tumor on his spine.

A veteran of 22 years as an NFL assistant, Johnson is regarded as one of the top defensive minds in the league, known for complex schemes that confused opponents and pressured the quarterback from every angle. His defenses consistently ranked among the best in the league, including last season, when the Eagles finished third in total defense and fell one victory short of the Super Bowl.

But his health deteriorated in recent months and he was relegated to coaching from a motorized cart. The Eagles announced in the offseason that he was taking a leave of absence and named secondary coach Sean McDermott their interim defensive coordinator. The interim tag was removed from McDermott's title just before training camp opened.

According to the Eagles, Johnson is survived by his wife Vicky, two children and four grandchildren.

The NFL, the Eagles and us fans are going to miss you, Jim.

Morgan Haley Bikini Bandit Caught!

Morgan Haley, now more popularly known as the “Bikini Bandit”, has been charged with carjacking and assault after stealing a car and robbing a business in Southaven, Mississippi wearing only her bikini.

Southaven Police Chief Tom Long said the 24-year-old suspect approached another woman in her driveway and demanded the car on Thursday. The woman gave up the car without a fight, asking only for time to remove her young children from inside.

Long said Haley then drove the stolen car to a business, where she told employees she had a gun and demanded money. The employees did not believe Haley's claim and restrained her until officers arrived.

Police said the suspect appeared to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol. She was charged with carjacking and assault.

Three time world boxing champion Vernon Forrest was shot and killed following an attempted carjacking in Atlanta Saturday night according to local police.

Atlanta police Sgt. Lisa Keyes said in an e-mail Sunday that the 38-year-old Forrest was shot several times in the back late Saturday night on a street just southwest of downtown.

Forrest was attacked by two men who jumped out of a at a red Chevy Monte Carlo while he was putting air in the tires of his Jaguar at a gas station. It’s not clear how much (if any) of the incident was caught on surveillance tape, but it’s believed that Forrest attempted to grab a gun out of vehicle when he was shot several times in the back. Forrest may have been shot as many as seven or eight times.

Currently there are no suspects, though police "have a general description of at least two black males driving a red Monte Carlo".

Forrest's 11-year-old godson was with him, but had gone into the convenience store and did not witness the shooting.

In his professional career, Forrest is best remembered for his two fights against Shane Mosely. In 2001, Forrest fought then WBC welterweight champion Shane Mosley at a time many considered Mosley to be the best fighter in the world. Forrest scored an upset and beat Mosley by a unanimous decision, then backed up six months late defeating Mosley again by a unanimous decision.

The death of Vernon Forrest comes shortly after the deaths of fellow boxing greats Alexis Arguello and Arturo Gatti in what has been a truly tragic month for the sweet science.

E. Lynn Harris, the best-selling Arkansas author known for contemporary stories about African-Americans, died today during a West Coast book tour. He was 54.

His personal assistant confirmed an unspecified health event for us this morning. He was stricken while staying at the Peninsula Hotel in Beverly Hills. His death has been confirmed by the local coroner, but an autopsy will be necessary to determine the case of death

According to his official biography at his Web site, Mr. Harris was born in Flint, Mich. and raised in Little Rock, Ark. At the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, he was the school’s first black male Razorbacks cheerleader and was a lifelong fan of the team. He sold computers for a living until he self-published his first novel, “Invisible Life,” in 1991; it was picked up by Anchor Books in 1994, spawning a prolific writing career spanning ten more novels, from “Just As I Am” in 1994, to “Basketball Jones,” published in January, as well as a 2004 memoir, “What Becomes of the Brokenhearted.”

In a statement, Alison Rich, the executive director of publicity for Doubleday, which published Mr. Harris’s novels, said: “We at Doubleday are deeply shocked and saddened to learn of E. Lynn Harris’ death at too young an age. His pioneering novels and powerful memoir about the black gay experience touched and inspired millions of lives, and he was a gifted storyteller whose books brought delight and encouragement to readers everywhere. Lynn was a warm and generous person, beloved by friends, fans, and booksellers alike, and we mourn his passing.”

His latest book, "Basketball Jones," is about the gay lover of an NBA star. Says the publicity blurb: "In Basketball Jones, E. Lynn Harris explores the consequences of loving someone who is forced to conform to the rules society demands its public heroes follow. Filled with nonstop twists and turns, it will keep readers riveted from the first page to the last." According to his website biography, Harris divided his time between Fayetteville and Atlanta.

Stephen Baldwin files for bankruptcy

Actor Stephen Baldwin, brother of Emmy winner and "30 Rock" star Alec Baldwin, filed for bankruptcy in New York on Tuesday, according to a court document that says he is millions in debt.

The 43-year-old actor has filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy protection in New York. Court documents show he has over $2.3mil in debt and only $1.1mil in assets.He also has heavy credit card debt.His wife, Kennya Baldwin, also is named in the document.

A lawyer for Baldwin had no comment.

New York newspaper Newsday reported earlier this month that a homeless man who was allowed to live on Baldwin's property was arrested on heroin charges and suspected of dealing drugs.

Baldwin recently returned from a stint in the jungle for NBC’s “I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here.” He abruptly quit the show, blaming extreme bug bites.

Zac Sunderland completes solo sail around the world

Zac Sunderland is a brave 17 year old boy that sailed alone around the world in 13 months.

Zac Sunderland docked Thursday in this coastal community west of Los Angeles, completing a 28,000-mile trip that began last year. His family, friends and hundreds of curious onlookers cheered as his 36-foot Intrepid boat entered the harbor.

He left Marina del Rey 13 months ago with a bold ambition to become the youngest person to sail around the world alone, returned to complete that quest today at 10:30 a.m.

Those welcoming Sunderland back home were heard to say that the seventeen-year-old had “left as a boy and came back a man.” His father, Laurence Sunderland, thinks likewise, saying today to the LA Times, “He left thinking that he knew a lot about life, and the difference now is, he does. You look into his eyes; he’s very much a deep thinker now. He tries to anticipate things more so now, before they happen.”

His father is a shipwright who has met him at various stops around the world, often to help him repair damage to the boat.

Sunderland, 17, who was greeted offshore and escorted in by an armada of well-wishers aboard dozens of sailboats and fancy yachts, cleared the breakwater beneath a clearing sky and stepped ashore at Fisherman's Village in bright sunshine.

The long journey, started in Marina del Rey, California, brought the young Sunderland through three oceans and five seas. He also crossed the equator twice and traveled, in total, over 25,000 miles during which he encountered, “a pirate scare, a broken boom, broken tiller, broken forestay rigging, a broken bulkhead, and he was swamped and almost washed overboard by a rogue wave off Grenada.”

The previous record was held by Jesse Martin, an Australian, who had finished the same journey at the age of eighteen in 1999.

All expectant mothers worry about how they will cope after their first child is born. But given her one-in-a-million condition, all Lindsay Hasaj could think about was getting through the pregnancy.

A new mother who has two sets of reproductive systems has surprised doctors and the medical world by giving birth to a healthy baby girl.

Lindsay Hasaj, who was diagnosed with a dual reproductive system or uterus didelphys in November, gave birth to Mirela Elizabeth by Caesarean section last week.

During a scan Mrs Hasaj discovered she had two wombs, a rare anatomical condition that halved her chances of fertilisation and complicated her pregnancy.

She had to have scans every two weeks, and even the tiniest problem caused enough anxiety to give her sleepless nights and necessitate trips to hospital.

Although eight in 10,000 women have some form of uterus didelphys only one in a million have Mrs Hasaj’s anatomy.

Mrs Hasaj, 27, said: 'I'm still in a state of disbelief and Tony and I never thought we would get this far. It's fantastic.

'Bringing her home was the most wonderful experience that no words in any language can explain. It was just massive amounts of tears of joy and relief.'

‘Mirela is beautiful and healthy, and everything went very smoothly. She is very special.’

They also said that although Mirela is healthy, she is likely to be the couple’s only child.

The son of Shoreline Christian Center’s co-pastors, 17-year-old Caleb Koke died in a car accident this morning, according to the officials. Shoreline Christian Center is an interdenominational church in North Austin.

Caleb Koke, 17, was driving eastbound on RM 2243 at around 3 a.m. when he crashed the 2007 Chevrolet Denali into a tree. Koke was pronounced dead at the scene, Department of Public Safety officials said.

Caleb Koke has been notified as the son of senior pastor Robert Koke and pastor Laura Koke. According to executive pastor D.R. Dickey, Caleb Koke was returning home from a bowling event when the accident occurred.
The chapel at Shoreline Christian Center will be open until 8 p.m. so members can come to the church to pray for the family, Dickey said.

Executive pastor D.R. Dickey also said, “It is really a difficult time for Pastor Koke who lost his father in the last week’s boating accident, and now his son died following a car accident.”

Services are pending, he said.

Speaking out for the first time since Michael Jackson's sudden death on June 25, the singer's sister LaToya Jackson, 53, is raising alarming allegations.

London's Daily Mail newspaper paid for the interview, according to a source close to the Jackson family and another source familiar with the interview arrangements. The amount of money paid was not disclosed.

LaToya Jackson was "very candid" throughout the four-hour interview, which took place in Los Angeles, California, last Thursday, said Caroline Graham, the Daily Mail reporter who conducted the interview.

LaToya Jackson told a London newspaper she suspects her brother was "murdered" in a conspiracy by "a shadowy entourage."

"Michael was murdered," LaToya claims in an exclusive interview. "Not just one person was involved, rather it was a conspiracy of people." she added.

Graham said LaToya Jackson's choice of words "stopped me dead in my tracks."

According to LaToya, Jackson himself always feared for his life. "A couple of years ago Michael told me he was worried that people were out to get him,” she told the paper. "He said, 'They're gonna kill me for my publishing. They want my catalogues and they're gonna kill me for these.' "

LaToya is not the only family member who believes there was a conspiracy to take Jackson’s life. The family patriarch, Joe Jackson, echoed his daughter’s sentiments, telling ABC News on Friday, “I do believe it was foul play. I do believe that."

However, the tragedy has "united the family" .

Former boxing champ Arturo Gatti’s wife Amanda revealed to authorities that, she and her husband were involved in a very heated argument on Friday night in a Brazilian bar. She claims that, Arturo Gatti was drunk when they came home.

Police say there are inconsistencies in her story.

Brazilian boxing idol Acelino "Popo" Freitas told a reporter that Gatti had spoken to him about domestic troubles and indicated that he and the wife were splitting up.

The 19-year-old actress showed off more than she'd intended when her dress parted at the London premiere of "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" on Tuesday.

At least Emma Watson can find humor in humiliation. The Harry Potter actress appeared on Late Show With David Letterman on Wednesday night, and the subject of her recent wardrobe malfunction popped up.

She told David Letterman, "This was a small wardrobe malfunction that happens. I actually don't remember it happening."

"At least I was wearing underwear!" Emma cracked, before admitting, "I'm still learning."

She and Dave also talked about her college plans, Harry Potter, and other important things like that. Emma is currently shooting Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows, while also promoting Half-Blood Prince that comes out on July 15.

By many eyewitness accounts, there was a major two-handed dunk thrown down by Xavier's Jordan Crawford on Monday, during a pickup game at the LeBron James Skills Academy in Akron, Ohio.

Not a big deal, really, because highlight-worthy dunks happen in summer pickup games all the time, especially when there's nothing at stake and the defense can at times be non-existent.

It is reported that LeBron wanted all video tapes taken of the dunking taken away. A Nike official allegedly confiscated all tapes of Jordan Crawford dunking on LeBron James.

Turns out, there were at least two cameras rolling Monday night when Crawford dunked on James during a pick-up game here at the LeBron James Skills Academy. It was a two-handed jam, the kind that would've circulated quickly on YouTube. But Nike officials eliminated that possibility shortly after the dunk happened by allegedly confiscating tapes from various cameramen.

A video taken by cellphone is bound to show up eventually. Nike and LeBron can't take away everyone's video.

Gary Parrish at CBS reported, Ryan Miller, a freelance photographer who was working at the camp that day, told CBSSports.com:

"LeBron called [Nike Basketball Senior Director Lynn Merritt] over and told him something," Miller said. "That's how I knew his name was Lynn. LeBron said, 'Hey, Lynn. Come here.'" The Nike official promptly took away all video of the incident.

Congratulations Jordan Crawford. Maybe Nike will have a line of Jordan Crawford shoes coming soon.

The man suspected of being the South Carolina Gaffney serial killer suspect was killed by police in North Carolina today , serial killer who murdered 5 people.

Burris was shot by Police in North Carolina today after they responded to a burglary complaint. The bullets found in Burris’ gun matched those taken from victims related to the Gaffney serial killer investigation.

He was identified as the same individual responsible for the murders of 5 people near Gaffney, South Caroline as police matched the bullets in the suspects gun to those used in the SC murders through ballistics tests.

During an attempted burglary late today, Burris was shot. Police say they have their man. Police are also furious that Burris was on the street, reportedly just released on parole in April after 8 years in jail. robert mcnamara dies at 93

Former Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara, the "architect" of the Vietnam War, died this morning. He was 93.

Family members said McNamara died at his home in Northwest Washington. They did not give a cause of death.

McNamara was secretary of defense during the presidencies of John F. Kennedy and Lyndon Baines Johnson. In that capacity he directed a U.S. military buildup in Southeast Asia during the critical early years of a Vietnamese conflict that escalated into one of the most divisive and bitter wars in U.S. history.

When the war was over, 58,000 Americans were dead and the national social fabric had been torn asunder.He served as secretary of defense longer than anyone else, and in that role he was a key figure in such major crises as the Bay of Pigs fiasco and the Cuban missile confrontation with the Soviet Union. He changed the balance of nuclear forces in the world with the development of the multiple-warhead missile.

McNamara knew the war was unwinnable by the middle of 1965. And millions of tons of bombs and missiles indiscriminately rained down on North and South Vietnam and it became an open-ended commitment to a war of attrition between that realization and his resignation in 1967. After his resignation he refused to say a word about what he knew, and the war continued, for no good reason, until 1975.

He was a narrow-minded number-crunching company man, exactly the sort of amoral little functionary we should never, ever allow to make decisions of life and death. A better man, perhaps, than a cold-blooded Machiavellian like Kissinger, but just as destructive.

Mr. McNamara married Margaret Craig, a fellow student at the University of California, who died of cancer just before he left the World Bank. They had a son and a daughter.

And in 2004, at age 88, he married his Italian-born sweetheart, Diana Masieri Byfield in Assisi, Italy.

Steve McNair & Sahel Kazemi found dead

Former American NFL football quarterback steve mcnair and 20-year-old woman Sahel Kazemi were found to death July 4, 2009 Saturday afternoon in a condominium in downtown Nashville, Tennessee. confirmed by Nashville police spokesman Don Aaron.

Metro Nashville police held a 9:30pm CDT press conference Saturday releasing the name of the female victim, whom McNair was alleged to have been dating for several months.
Nashville's daily newspaper, The Tennessean, characterized the situation as a "murder-suicide" in a 10pm update on their website, after learning of the specific wounds to the victims.

Steve Mcnair 36-year-old best known with Tennessee Titans, He was shot multiple times of one shot in the head, and a pistol was discovered near the Sahel Kazemi body. Don Aaron identified the woman Sahel Kazemi is"friend" of McNair's. She had a single gunshot wound to the head.
Police stopped a car driven by Kazemi two days ago on Broadway in downtown Nashville. Police charged her with driving under the influence and refusing to take a breath test. McNair was a passenger in the car, which he co-owned with Kazemi according to public records.

According to The Huffington Post, Don Aaron said McNair's wife Mechelle is "very distraught."
"At this juncture, we do not believe she is involved," he said. "Nothing has been ruled out, but as far as actively looking for a suspect tonight, the answer would be no."

"The medical examiner will be conducting autopsies tomorrow (Sunday)," Metro Police Spokesman Don Aaron said. "We expect to make additional conclusions after the autopsy process."

As for the relationship between McNair and Kazemi, police would say little, describing the two as "friends." The Tennessean reports the two had been dating for several weeks.

ron artest join lakers

If you can't beat 'em, join 'em. That's the mindset that Ron Artest has apparently taken following today's news that he's agreed to join Kobe Bryant in Los Angeles.

Ron Artest, who nearly derailed the Los Angeles Lakers’ championship drive, will apparently be joining them for the next joy ride through the playoffs.

Artest, whose versatility and toughness have made him one of the most coveted and combustible players in the NBA, told CBSSports.com Thursday that he's signing with the Lakers.

“I am happy to say I am goin’ to L.A.,” Artest wrote in the message to ESPN, which reported that the deal would be for three years and $18 million.

"I'm definitely going to L.A. -- to sign, yeah," Artest said in a phone interview. "Lakers, Lakers, Lakers. I'm in L.A. right now."

Artest said he met with Lakers owner Dr. Jerry Buss Thursday and previously had spoken with Lakers coach Phil Jackson. He was en route to his financial manager's office, where he planned to huddle on the phone with his agent, David Bauman, to finalize details.

Karl Malden Dead At 97

Karl Malden, the Academy Award-winning actor whose intelligent characterizations on stage and screen made him a star despite his plain looks, died Wednesday , July 1, his family said. He was 97. Malden died of natural causes surrounded by his family at his Brentwood home, they told the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences. He served as the academy's president from 1989-92.No cause of death was reported.

With his bulbous nose and thinning hair, Mr. Malden was one of the most recognizable sights in movies and on television for five decades. In the 1970s, he became known to millions of viewers as a veteran police detective who partners with a young inspector, played by Michael Douglas, in the ABC drama series "The Streets of San Francisco."

"Karl lived a rich, full life," Academy president Sid Ganis said. "He has the greatest and most loving family; a career that has spanned the spectrum of the arts from theater to film and television, to some very famous commercial work."

He played the lead role in the short-lived NBC series Skag in 1980, but most of his roles were in movies, including Patton, On The Waterfront, A Streetcar Named Desire, Kiss of Death, How The West Was Won, Birdman of Alcatraz, Murderer's Row, and Meteor. One of my favorite Malden roles was in the 50s movie Fear Strikes Out, where he played the pushy father of Red Sox outfielder Jimmy Piersall. His last role was a first season episode of The West Wing.

His last appearance in general was a few weeks ago. AFI gave a Life Achievement Award to Michael Douglas and Malden videotaped a congratulations for him. Douglas costarred in The Streets of San Francisco with Malden for several years. The show will air on TV Land July 19.

Besides his wife, Malden is survived by daughters Mila and Cara, his sons-in-law, three granddaughters, and four great grandchildren.

alexis arguello found dead

Former boxing champion Alexis Arguello, one of the best junior lightweights to step in the ring, was found dead at his home early Wednesday.

The newspaper El Nuevo Diario reported that Arguello's death appeared to be a suicide.

Presidential spokeswoman Rosario Murillo confirmed Arguello's death and an autopsy was pending. The La Prensa newspaper reported Arguello was found with a gunshot wound to the chest.
"We are upset," said Murillo, who declined to provide details about the death. "This is a heartbreaking announcement. He was the champion of the poor, an example of forgiveness and reconciliation."


Arguello's boxing career began in Managua in the 1960s, and he quickly built up an impressive record and a reputation for knocking out his opponents quickly. His first fight outside Nicaragua was for the WBA featherweight title in 1974, and although he lost that fight, he got a second shot and won the title later that year.

Through the 1970s Arguello was considered one of the best boxers in the world. His most memorable matches of the decade were his two fights with Alfredo Escalera, both of which Arguello won. The first Arguello-Escalara fight, known as the Bloody Battle of Bayamon, took place on January 28, 1978, and ended in the 13th round when Escalara couldn't continue because of cuts. Their rematch took place on February 4, 1979, with Arguello knocking Escalara out, again in the 13th round.

Nobody had ever won titles in four divisions, and Arguello moved up in weight again in November 1982 to challenge junior welterweight king Aaron Pryor in a fight billed as "Battle of the Champions." More than 23,000 fans packed the Orange Bowl in Miami, and the two waged an epic battle in which Pryor knocked out Arguello in the 14th round.

He announced his retirement after losing a fight to Scott Walker in 1995, at the age of 42.
