American Idol viewers have just suffered through the universally loathed Disco Week, so what’s their reward? Rock Week, apparently. We’re cautiously optimistic about this one, since the air-date hasn’t actually been confirmed. Maybe they’re saving it for the top 3?
There have been some awfully ineffective and inarticulate mentors on "American Idol" this year, from Quentin Tarantino to Jamie Foxx.
While it’s hard to imagine him rockin’ a keypad instead of a Les Paul, iconic ex-Guns’n'Roses/Velvet Revolver/Slash’s Snakepit (remember them?) guitarist Slash has announced, via Twitter, that he’s been asked to mentor the Idol contestants during Rock Week.
Not sure how a guitarist, also of Slash's Snakepit, will advise singers of largely pop pedigree, but he will try during next week's "Idol" theme: rock 'n' roll.
The theme comes just in time for Adam Lambert, the rocker with a theatrical streak, who surprisingly found himself in the bottom two Wednesday. Also to benefit: Allison Iraheta, who just turned 17 and has proven herself most durable on rock numbers.
Kris Allen and Danny Gokey may have a tougher time handling Slash's brand of rock, and Slash itself. But with only four singing, it's pretty certain the one hour performance show next week will at least come in on time.
Tune in to find out what horrors Rock Week has in store. Chris Daughtry will reportedly be debuting a new Daughtry song during the show, too.
