A press conference was held after skeletal remains were found in the Anchorage Farm of David Bass, leading to suspicion that is could well be the body of missing Virginia Tech student Morgan Harrington.
According to reports, the discovery was made this morning by a resident of Anchorage Farms, a 700-plus-acre tract of pasture and woods about fives miles south of Interstate 64 on the west side of U.S. 29. That person notified Albemarle County police, who then notified the Virginia State Police, who turned the investigation over to the detectives heading the Harrington investigation.
During the the conference the assembled crowd was told by Colonel Steven Flaherty, the superintendent of the Virginia State Police, that, “based on evidence… we’re fairly confident that the remains are those of Morgan Dana Harrington.”
The remains that were found were soon moved to the Chief Medical Examiner in Richmond from the farm in Anchorage.
Harrington has not been seen or heard from since Oct. 17, when the 20-year-old Virginia Tech student vanished from a Metallica concert in Charlottesville. She was last seen wearing a Pantera shirt, a black skirt and black boots.
