Cincinnati’s Brian Kelly will be named the next Notre Dame head coach, according to two university sources.
Just 10 days after Charlie Weis was fired, it's up to Kelly to revive the fortunes of a team that just completed the worst decade of football in the history of the storied program with a 70-52 record and three losing seasons.
“Brian is going to be a perfect fit for Notre Dame,” said Nick Carparelli Jr., the Big East’s associate commissioner for football who worked at Notre Dame under Bob Davie as director of football operations. “He’s great with the media and people in general, and he’ll be great at fund-raising. I don’t see anything lacking in who he is that would be needed at Notre Dame.”
Kelly will officially takes over at Notre Dame on Monday.
