mariska hargitay Hospitalized

Mariska Hargitay continues to suffer from a mysterious lung ailment and she is back in the hospital, her rep confirms to Usmagazine.com.

“Law & Order: SVU” star Mariska Hargitay was hospitalized--yet again--Wednesday night in New York City for chest pains.

This is the third time Hargitay has been hospitalized since December, the previous two times were for a collapsed lung.

"Mariska Hargitay went to the hospital this morning after experiencing some discomfort relating to her earlier lung condition," her rep told Usmagazine.com Wednesday. "She is undergoing routine tests and expects to be feeling better soon."

Dr. Manny Alvarez, managing editor of health for FOXNews.com, said an injury to the lung may cause adhesions to form on the outer cover of the lung or pleura.

Hargitay had been sidelined over the holidays and then again on Jan. 12 with a pneumothorax -- the medical term for the condition.

She reportedly complained of chest pains on the set of the NBC show yesterday and was taken to the hospital right after filming.

The star of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit had returned to work at the end of January, two weeks after the incident, an NBC rep confirmed to Us.

Her rep confirms to Us that "production will not be affected."

Chris Meloni told Us in January that "she's doing great."

Meloni, who co-stars with Hargitay on SVU, said that although filming halted in Hargitay's absence, they planned to shoot the current season until May with her appearing in all episodes.

"She got a little dinged up," he said. "And everyone just thought, 'better safe than sorry.'"

Hargitay, 45, received a Golden Globe nomination for her role as Detective Olivia Benson, but chose not to attend the festivities.
